We worked with Polydor Records on the full visual campaign for Bandokay’s debut mixtape M.A.R.K.
The project covered the complete rollout, including front and back cover artwork, physical CD packaging, billboard creative, and motion assets for social media and YouTube. The release was deeply personal, functioning both as a debut body of work and a tribute, and the visuals needed to reflect that emotional weight while remaining bold and impactful across digital and physical formats.
The core concept centred on identity, legacy, and resemblance. The title M.A.R.K references Bandokay’s late father, Mark Duggan, while also standing for Made Around Real Killers. To bring this meaning to life visually, we created a collage-based portrait that merges imagery of Bandokay with archival imagery of his father. The two faces are torn, layered, and fused together, emphasising their strong resemblance and symbolising inherited identity, shared history, and influence. The rough, ripped-paper texture gives the artwork a raw and confrontational feel, reinforcing themes of loss, reality, and environment.
The front cover places this merged portrait centrally against a dark, grain-heavy background, allowing the face to become the immediate focal point. Subtle colour variation and texture shifts within the collage add depth without distracting from the subject. The title typography highlights the acronym M.A.R.K, with selective red lettering drawing attention to its dual meaning and adding a sense of urgency and intensity.
The back cover expands the narrative by introducing additional archival imagery, including family photographs and younger portraits, arranged in a similar torn-collage style. This creates a more reflective tone while maintaining visual continuity. The tracklist is set in strong, legible typography, with red accents guiding the eye and reinforcing the project’s visual identity. Careful layout ensured clarity while preserving the emotional weight of the imagery.
Alongside the core artwork, we adapted the visuals for physical CD production, ensuring the design translated cleanly to retail packaging. The mixtape was stocked and sold in HMV, making physical presentation a key consideration. We also developed large-format billboard artwork, stripping the composition back to its strongest elements for maximum impact in public spaces. Motion assets were created for social media and YouTube, introducing subtle movement and transitions that brought the collage to life while maintaining the seriousness and tone of the project.
M.A.R.K launched with a cohesive and powerful visual identity that resonated strongly with audiences. The mixtape received wide visibility across physical retail, outdoor advertising, and digital platforms, reinforcing Bandokay’s presence as a debut artist while honouring the personal story behind the project. The campaign successfully balanced emotional depth with commercial clarity, delivering artwork that felt authentic, respectful, and unmistakably bold across every touchpoint.
